Book Review: "The Slow Professor"

My PhD supervisor, Dr. Martin Whiting, and I both read the "The Slow Professor: Challenging the Culture of Speed in the Academy" by Maggie Berg and Barbara K. Seeber. Then, we both wrote down our thoughts about it to create a book review from the perspective of a graduate student, and a professor! Check it out HERE.
The ideas in this review really highlight how easily constant pressure to produce more can overshadow the real purpose of education. The reminder that thoughtful teaching, meaningful research and genuine collaboration all require time feels especially relevant in a culture that often measures success by output alone. I also appreciated the emphasis on slowing down as an intentional choice rather than a sign of reduced ambition. That perspective could benefit students just as much as academics, encouraging deeper learning instead of rushing through tasks.
